"I'm excited!" Vala rubbed his hands enthusiastically.
Cam gave her a dark look.
"Come on," she continued, laughing at him, "you're not a little curious?"
Cam grunted, apparently unwilling to on the subject discuss it further.
"It is an honor that you have been selected as one of the heirs", now also turned Daniel into the conversation. "Amari usually leave all their kin and not ..."
"... strange aliens from another planet." Vala chirped cheerfully.
Daniel cleared his throat. "Nevertheless Kistara was thinking of you before he died. I guess in his eyes you were part of his clan, as you will have saved his life. "
Cam looked for help to the ceiling. "I pushed him aside as one of the horses went by. That is not exactly a heroic achievement. "He replied.
Teal'c bowed his head. "You have thus saved his life," he noted dryly.
"... and you dislocated his shoulder during the fall," Vala finished the sentence.
Cam made a face and rubbed in a fit of phantom pain on the right shoulder. It did hurt like hell and took forever until it was healed. And it had driven him to madness, he as The shoulder was dislocated. Not Goa'ulds or Ori no convert to run, a simple horse, who had terrified of something, only to have it - not exactly a heroic injury.
"So I'm curious what you get," Vala interrupted the silence. "A house or a horse or precious stones ..." Still thrilled she looked at him.
"The Amari are nomads," said Daniel without being asked, "I doubt that they leave Cam a house."
"Then just a tent," Vala said sulkily and crossed his arms over his chest.
"It does not matter what it is," said Daniel, "the meeting is in 30 minutes. Time to move us. "
Cam nodded and stood up. He was not keen to go to the Amari, but he had no other choice. And maybe he got lucky and inherited actually something useful.
It was raining when they reached PX7359. Routine they emerged from the shimmering blue horizon to the stone platform of the Stargate and immediately saw a group Amari, who took her in reception.
"Greetings" said a young woman came up to them. She was slender and graceful. Their pale skin stood out against its dark green tunic and her hair was hidden under a veil. Cam remembered that women wore dresses on the planet, compared to those of the population in the East on Earth. Determined, he stepped forward and pressed in a traditional greeting raised his palms against her.
"I'm Laria, Kistaras daughter."
Cam nodded and put his hand on his chest at the point where his heart beat. "I grieve with you." Returned it formally, remembering the teachings Daniels, as he could express his condolences to the Amari.
Laria smiled sadly. "I am glad that you took the long way to forward to you, to fulfill the last will of my Father.", She pointed to himself and walked the narrow path along which the Stargate away to their camp led. SG-1 followed her, Cam at the top. has
"The Annunciation, which my father left his family's belongings will be held just before sunset. As long as you are our guests and recover from your journey. "
you had already arrived in the camp and walked towards a black tent. Laria turned back the fabric roof, which served as input.
Rest "from you. Drinks and food are available. If you need something, do not hesitate to call us. "
With these words she nodded to the group that had entered the tent and took his leave to prepare for the proclamation ceremony.
The sun was low and it had stopped raining. The air was mild and the sky had a deep dark red, like Cam so far seen only rarely. He sat the right of the family clan, his team beside him. He patiently listened to each family member their patriarch praised, remembered and laughed and cried together, before the elders of the tribe began to announce what Kistara had left his descendants. It took until Cam finally was my turn. "The best is already gone," he heard whispering to Daniel and Vala had to suppress a grin, when suddenly his name was called.
He looked up and all eyes were on him before they slipped back to the elders.
Cameron Mitchell is a Stranger, "began the elder, looking around," but for Kistara he became a brother when he saved his life. "He paused for a moment in which all family members nodded in agreement.
"You can not replace a life and Kistara was aware of this gift. So he wanted Cameron to show his gratitude for the last time, in which he makes a life for a life. "
Cam looked confused and tried to elders, from his words to be smart, but he did not understand. Seeking help, he looked at Daniel, but he shrugged his shoulders imperceptibly.
"Therefore belongs to the present day Johnaria to your clan, "ended the oldest.
For a moment there was silence before again murmur of approval filled the room. While Cam was trying to understand what exactly it all meant, a man was out in the middle of the circle. He was tall and slim, his hair as dark as his sun-tanned skin. In contrast to the Amari, the Cam had seen so far, Johnaria wore a kind of dress that revealed more than covert. A blue vest and matching knee-length pants Plunder was all he had to.
Cams eyes slid the body down, registered the muscular upper arms and bare chest, shoot the dark hairs. He swallowed hard and forced his gaze upward. Johnaria looked at him, but Cam was the expression in the face interpret. What, however, he immediately noticed was the depth of his dark brown eyes that were outlined clearly with a kind of black paint and let him look strangely more attractive. He breathed and shook his head before he turned to the elders.
"Do not get me wrong," he said, and there was silence, "it is an honor that Kistara has thought of me, but I can not accept. "
The elder looked at him blankly. "It is not to you to decide," he said.
"But," Cam made a new attempt, "I can not get people paid."
Laria got up and they all looked at.
"It is a special gift that my father has left you his favorite slave, Cameron," she said, looking at him seriously. "If you reject him is an insult to our family."
Cam gulped and thought hard before Daniel arose.
"Cameron would not insult your family. But the custom to keep slaves, is unusual in our country, "he said diplomatically.
Laria reply, but turned to her brothers. The group deliberated quietly and cast a furtive glance at Cam Johnaria.
The clan seemed to have come to an agreement and Kistaras daughter turned to Cam. "We understand that the tradition of slaves is foreign to you, but this does not change our customs. Johnaria belongs to Cameron and his family. If he decides to sell it or pass on, the lies solely with him. We will accept his decision, "
Cam sighed with relief and thought about it already, to whom he give Johnaria could Laria continued as:". But before this happens, the tradition meet "you entered. in the middle and Johnaria led to action. "Johnaria belongs to you, but you can only determine his future, if you have taken possession of him completely."
"And what that means?" Cam said with a dark foreboding.
Laria smiled. "Johnaria is a Kamarim . "
Cam looked at her blankly, and turned for help to Daniel.
"And that means?"
Daniel cleared his throat and his eyes sparkled with amusement.
" Kamarim meant so much as, like a slave."
Cam stared at him in astonishment.
"A what?"
Daniel was obviously trying not to grin. "A pleasure slave," he repeated in a tone that made it clear that he bit back laughter.
Cam turned back to Laria. But before he could say anything, he heard a sound emitting Vala beside him, which was a mixture of screams and squealing. They clapped enthusiastically into the hands and shouted: "If you do not want him, I'll take him"
Cams gaze shifted between Vala, Johnaria Laria and back and forth before he sighed result. Why so what happened
really only him?
