He is still a mystery how they really came together and most importantly, why it holds. His gaze goes over to Cam, who is talking to Teal'c, as he turns over the steaks. Sam and Daniel come in and sit down. Cam is both a beer and they go on. The conversation is fluid and easy. Cam latches off and focuses on the grill.
John knows Cam. He knows that it is developing a ridiculous ambition when it comes to the perfect steak. With a smile he watched as Cam pours beer over the meat, only to to provoke a comment from Daniel. And not long in coming. Sam looks at the guys and starts to laugh. This information to see, ask to laugh a little and finally all three. Teal'c is silent, but betrayed his eyebrows, that he is amused.
John missed this the ease with which they deal all together. The familiarity he had with Ronan, Teyla and Rodney. Here it is different. Atlantis lacks - but still more his friends.
Cam is about searching and found him as he leans in the doorway. He lifts the tongs, waves to him that he should come to them. Around the eyes, he sees the smile lines, the look he throws Cam and only he is able to interpret correctly. John smiles and suddenly he is grateful. Slowly, he strolls to the other and stops next to Cam. A hand taps him amicably on the shoulder, a second is too long to rest on his back and then slides down. Cams concentration wanders back to the meat, he proudly proclaims that the steaks are done. John looked at Cam and can give a steak. He is ridiculously happy.
